What We Believe

At First Reformed Church of Tampa, we believe:

  • The Bible is the written Word of God and our rule of faith and conduct
  • In one God who reveals Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit
  • God created the world and uniquely made people in His image
  • Jesus is fully God and fully man and died for mankind's sins on the cross
  • Jesus commanded his followers to love God, love others and make disciples for Jesus
  • God sent his Holy Spirit to empower and transform people into the likeness of Jesus
  • Salvation is a gracious gift from God given to those who place their faith in Jesus
  • The church is not a building, but it is the body of Christ on earth

Dave Hubbartt

Pastor Dave Hubbartt

Pastor Dave Hubbartt was born the grandson of a pastor in Illinois and became a pastor's kid when his family moved to Florida and his father became a pastor.  Initially not wanting to follow in his grandfather's or father’s footsteps, he studied pre-medicine, but after volunteering for Fellowship of Christian Athletes while in college, he sensed God's call on his life and changed his major from biology to Bible.  He started his ministry career in 1988.  After spending eleven years working in youth and worship ministries around Philadelphia, PA, he moved back to the Tampa Bay area to be closer to family and worked with two local crisis pregnancy center ministries.  In 2008 Dave and his family started attending First Reformed Church of Tampa, and in 2013 Dave was called to be a pastor here.  Since then, his passion for Christ and people, solid practical biblical teaching, and untiring service for the Lord have blessed this congregation.

Pastor Dave’s faith and trust in God have been and still are greatly motivated by his parents; who continue to serve in the ministry.  Dave is also inspired by his wife and calls her his hero describing her as a woman of deep faith and passion for Christ, a powerful prayer warrior, and a heroic "overcomer". Along with spending time with his wife and three children, Pastor Dave enjoys reading, cooking, bird watching, traveling, entertaining, and working in his yard.  Dave’s favorite Bible verse is John 3:30, "He must increase, but I must decrease." (ESV) We invite you to come and meet Pastor Dave!
